Goals for 2011

I'm the first one to say that I think new year's resolutions are a waste of time, but at the same time I think its always important to be striving to learn new things, improving your skills and generally bringing as much awesome as you can. Since we're saying hello to a new year shortly, I thought I'd take the opportunity to note a brief list of goals to achieve in the coming year.

So here it is — the list of things which I want to achieve in the coming year, in no particular order:

  1. Complete the new version of this site (so simple, yet so delayed)
  2. Finish Is My Code Readable
  3. Create something cool with HTML5 canvas
  4. Attend more events
  5. Give at least two talks (at DevEvening or elsewhere)
  6. Tidy up and release Dialify
  7. Carry on learning and expanding my knowledge

Some of those (such as number 4 and 5) are easy, and numbers 1 and 6 are just a matter of time. Number 3 has possibly already been done, but there is no reason it can't be done again and be better... perhaps something which serves a purpose rather than just being another demo.

Of course, I hope a lot more happens which I haven't included on the list (a completely planned future is not a fun one). I particularly like the idea of writing a book, although I'm not sure what the topic would be. Hopefully something will come up and I'll wonder why I hadn't thought of it earlier. Regardless of what is eventually achieved though, I look forward to another year of great ideas and technologies.

Happy new year to you all. It's gonna be fun...
